The county has 762.97 square miles of land and 223.10 square miles of water for a total of 986.07 square miles. The average January temperature is 64.0 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average August temperature is 81.2 degrees Fahrenheit. The average annual rainfall is 49.95 inches.
History. Glades County was established from De Soto County in 1921 and named for the Everglades.
